I.U.F.M. Pau Library, France

University Library Installation. Institut Universitaire de Formation des Maîtres d'Aquitanie. 2007. Leibar&Seigneurin. Serie MB.04

The installation was carried out in 2007 by the Leibar&Seigneurin architecture studio, the creator of numerous projects in the south west of France, and which is characterised by a constant desire to establish a meaning and relationship between place, space and time. Thus, the design proposal of the french architectural studio was the only one that respected the building’s surroundings, the natural growth of the trees and natural environment, integrating the library within it but without damaging or invading it.

The studio of Xavier Leibar and Jean Marie Seigneurin has left its mark, a profoundly personal style and a simple and harmonic language, never forgetting that essential element, the light, which changes the spaces and materials at the heart of their work. The result is an authentic and human vision, that does not breakaway from or relinquish modernity, a building has been created that is full of remembrance and is oriented towards the future.

For the interior, furniture from the MB.04 serie was chosen, a range that is specifically for installations such as this, designed to meet all the needs of a library. The space is resolved with double shelving units and reading tables, in addition some sliding book holders were designed, accessories especially manufactured for this installation.
